Participants have the option of  living at Brown College, where they will have their own rooms, but will share a bathroom with one other attendee. Located on Grounds at UVA, the convenience of Brown College is unparalleled although be advised that it is spartan dormitory accommodation close to libraries, seminar rooms and The Lawn, Brown provides air-conditioned rooms, in addition to a study lounge, kitchen, computer lab, library, laundry facilities, and two TV lounges. All rooms are accessed by stairs, so if you require full accessibility, please let us know ASAP. One participant will be assigned to each suite (i.e. suites will not be shared – see plans below)

*COST  per teacher is $42 per night (for a total of $504) and will be subtracted from the first half of your stipend payment. There will be an additional cost of $15 per week for the rental of a microwave/minifridge unit which will also be subtracted from your stipend payment.

Linens will be provided for a $20 per person fee.  Each guest will receive a shrink-wrapped linen package, which will include the following: a bed pillow, pillow case, two sheets, a bedspread, two bath towels, a washcloth, and a bath mat.

Hotel options in the Charlottesville area are certainly possibilities, including the Omni Charlottesville and Hampton Inn.

A parking permit is available for $15 per week for Culbreth Garage at the University of Virginia. This garage is about 15 minutes walk from Brown College.

Participants will have the option of pre-ordering box lunches for certain days during the Institute. They may also choose to pack their own lunch. If they choose the box lunch option the cost for the lunches will be deducted from seminar stipends with teachers’ approval. Teachers will be able to make choices about lunch options; a vegetarian option will always be provided. These arrangements will be made closer to the beginning of the institute.
